Casting Calls Auditions

Are you ready to audition or attend a casting call? Actors should arrive at auditions well prepared, not just ready to perform, but also to present any required memorized material. Examine the audition notice and information. Should you prepare one monologue or two? What should you expect when you arrive?

Be nice to everybody around you. You never know if the person you are speaking to is important. There may be several people waiting with you to audition. Remember that they are competing with you for the same job. Don't let them threaten you. Be careful when using perfume or cologne. You don't want to send anyone out of the room in a sneezing fit.

Try to find some background information about the person or the team who you are auditioning for. If you are auditioning for a particular company, be familiar with their previous works. It can also help you decide which pieces to choose for your audition. It is best to have two monologues prepared that are different from each other and show the breath of your range.

Finally, based on the audition notice, make certain you are trying out for an appropriate part. If the casting director is looking for an old and wrinkled woman in her 70s, and you are just over 20, you already are not a good fit for the role. Be as organized and prepared as possible. Then relax and give it your best shot.
